Burlington Camden Alumni Chapter The Strong Arm Chapter

Brother Charles Cleveland "CJ" Jones was born in Philadelphia, Pennsylvania on October 15, 1945.  He attended public schools in Philadelphia and graduated form Dobbins Vocational and Technical High School in 1964. While attending Dobbins High he participated in multiple sports including football, track and field lettering in both. He was admitted to Cheyney State College and was initiated into the Gamma Omega Chapter of Kappa Alpha Psi Fraternity Inc., in 1965.  Brother Jones was inducted into Cheyney University’s Athletic Hall of Fame in 2015

He had an illustrious career as an educator and school administrator for thirty years and was exemplary, honored with awards and meritorious commendations. He was married to his “Life Time” Kappa Sweetheart Carol Elizabeth Waters who he met while teaching at the Pyne Point Middle School in Camden New Jersey. 

Brother Jones earned a Masters Degree in Mathematics Education from Rutgers the State University. He studied and obtained advanced certifications in School Administration, Principal and Supervisor.  He  served the public in many roles; as President of the Local Administrators Union, and the Alcohol Beverage Control Board.

Brother Jones was elected Polemarch of the Burlington-Camden Alumni Chapter serving in that capacity from 1981-83.  Afterward he was elevated to the Northeast Province Board of Directors. Because of his benevolent and meritorious service he received the Province’s most prestigious accolade; the     James M. Kidd Award.  Brother Jones was a Fifty-Year member as well as a Life Member of Kappa Alpha Psi Fraternity Inc.  He transitioned to the Heavenly Grand Chapter; the Chapter Invisible, on Sunday February 19, 2017.

On April 2017 the brothers of the Burlington-Camden Alumni Chapter unanimously voted to name the chapter's highest award in his honor; the Charles Cleveland "CJ" Jones Award.  This award is conferred by the Burlington-Camden Alumni Chapter Polemarch to a brother who has distinguished himself in his service to the brothers of the chapter and the chapter itself.
